Jacob Groth joined PPD in 2025. He has an interest in medical malpractice defense, as well as construction law. Jacob is proud to bring his legal education and experience to the Capital Region of NY. He grew up in Washington State, where he enjoyed the great outdoors, often hiking and playing soccer.

Prior to joining PPD, Jacob graduated cum lade from Albany Law School, and also worked as a legal intern for Albany County in the litigation department assisting with municipal negligence defense.

Jacob received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington State University, where he first became an avid writer, even having a brief stint as an author prior to law school. Jacob’s background in economics is beneficial to his work in the legal field, particularly in medical malpractice cases, where the valuation of damages can be pivotal to the defense.

Jacob has a hands-on mentality to life, and a love for critical thinking. A lot of this developed from his time as a construction worker while he put himself through college. Jacob’s first-hand experience in construction taught him the value of hard work and gave him the necessary understanding of what goes on at the ground level, which is important in the context of complex construction law litigation.

AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.

Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. The objective is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. Since Super Lawyers is intended to be used as an aid in selecting a lawyer, we limit the lawyer ratings to those who can be hired and retained by the public. Prior client results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
