Jack Phelan, IV is a partner in the firm and focuses almost entirely on liability defense, including medical malpractice defense, pharmaceutical defense, general liability defense, civil rights litigation, appellate practice, and risk transfer/coverage. Jack is familiar with the intricacies of the day-to-day practices of different courts throughout New York State, having practiced in Upstate New York immediately after law school, before spending five years practicing in New York City. He has since joined PPD where he defends cases throughout New York State. Jack is currently admitted to practice in all State Courts in New York and, additionally, the Northern and Southern Districts of New York.

Jack graduated magna cum laude from Albany Law School in 2014 and, during law school, served as an Executive Editor on the Albany Law Review. He was one of a handful of students to have his student note published in the 77th Edition of the Albany Law Review (77 Alb. L. Rev. 579). Jack's note is an analytical comment on both state and federal legislative assault weapons bans and their constitutionality under the Second Amendment and evolving United States Supreme Court precedent. The article has been cited by a number of legal journals throughout the country, including the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and the Berkley Journal of Criminal Law.

Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. The objective is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. Since Super Lawyers is intended to be used as an aid in selecting a lawyer, we limit the lawyer ratings to those who can be hired and retained by the public. Prior client results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
